Owlypia offers a diverse range of educational resources to enhance student learning and engagement. This year, we have 70 study materials spanning three age groups and five subjects. While students are encouraged to focus on a select set of materials, integrating Owlypia coursework into the classroom or club activities can significantly boost their motivation and participation.
As a supervisor, you have access to teacher’s guides (view only) and supplementary materials (downloadable) to support your lesson planning.
Getting Started
Before exploring the study materials in a classroom environment, it’s essential to:
– Explain how Owlypia works to your students
– Discuss the importance of soft skills in their lives
– Introduce the concept of analytical thinking, which is the central theme of the materials
– Review the Foundation Courses guidelines to kickstart your Owlypia journey
Suggested Classroom Activities
For each resource, we recommend the following activities:
-
Pre-assignment
Have students log in to their LMS account and complete the sections on the Getting Started page:
- Prediction/Brainstorming
- What You Will Learn
- Keywords
- A Quick Summary
-
In-class
- Focus on learning objectives
- Do vocabulary exercises
- Touch upon the cultural issues (if any)
- Explain key concepts
- Do comprehension checks to ensure everyone is on track
- For books and films, concentrate on Getting Started and Overview sections that also include a set of activities and questions you will select from the Teacher’s Guide
- If time permits, explore the suggested pre-, while-, and post-activities
- Include further activities from the Teacher’s Guide based on your time and student interests
-
Post-assignment
- Assign projects of interest using the Teacher’s Guide
- Remind your students to finish their work in their LMS account
- For books or films, ask your students to complete the chapters or sections independently
Remind students to click Mark Complete as they progress through their coursework for reporting, achievement, and certification purposes.
Planning Your Approach
Decide on the age group(s) and subject(s) you will focus on:
– Same age group and subject: We suggest you try to cover all foundational and course-related materials in class.
– Same age group but different subjects: You may wish to focus on foundational and only common materials in class and have students complete the rest of the subject-specific work on the LMS.
A Sample Scenario
Duration: 8 weeks | Age Group: mixed | Subject: mixed
In this scenario, you will be focusing on common sources since the subjects your students have chosen are mixed.

Note: This schedule provides a structured approach to incorporating Owlypia materials into classroom activities. However, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning by dedicating additional study time outside of the classroom as part of their preparation for the Owlypia competition. Naturally, the level of extra study time required may vary depending on the individual student’s goals, abilities, and chosen subjects.
